Power issues require new switchboard for residents

Our electrical team were urgently contact by the Body Corporate of an 8 Unit Complex in Southport after there had been significant and reoccurring power issues in one of the units.

We promptly attended the property and identified the need for a switchboard upgrade to rectify the issue. The Energex report for the building also indicated that the consumer mains needed to be upgraded as well as a new property pole.

A switchboard upgrade usually comprises of the replacement of existing enclosure, circuit protection and electricity meter paneling into a new metallic housing that is compliant to the current standards (AS3000:2018).

Unfortunately the usual lead time for Energex is between 4 – 6 weeks, however this committee called for the quickest resolution possible.  We were able to provide a solution whereby we could attend to the power outages and do the work in stages – starting with the switchboard upgrade. The remainder of the work will be completed in the coming weeks.
