Switchboard Upgrade and Relocation for a Heritage‑Listed Building in Spring Hill
The Fully Wired Electrical team recently completed a complex switchboard upgrade and relocation for a heritage‑listed building in Spring Hill, originally constructed in 1927. With more than 100 years of history behind its walls, this project required a careful balance of modern electrical requirements and respect for the building’s original character.
The existing switchboard supplied power to residential units on the upper level and office and medical suites downstairs, making reliability and safety critical for both occupants and businesses. Given the age of the infrastructure and the mixed‑use nature of the building, the upgrade involved detailed planning, staged works, and strict compliance with current Australian electrical standards.
To minimise disruption, the team worked around tenant schedules and business hours. Due to the complexity of the project and the need to maintain power for essential services, the works extended late into the night, with the upgrade successfully completed at 2am. This approach ensured residents and commercial tenants experienced minimal downtime while essential services remained protected.
The upgraded and relocated switchboard has now future‑proofed the building, providing the capacity to safely handle modern power demands while improving overall electrical safety and reliability. Importantly, all work was carried out with careful consideration of the building’s heritage status, ensuring no unnecessary impact on its structure or historical features.
Our relationship with the Body Corporate Manager and over 18yrs experience is what give our team the extra edge to be able to deal with complex and special switchboard upgrades such as this.
